Phoenixfirebird Gamefarm is built on the foundation for passion for the sport of sabong “cockfighting”, having passed the family´s tradition and legacy that originated from Siquijor patriarch, Mr. Melquiades Siquijor. This tradition can be traced way back in the 1940´s, right after the WW II, when Mr. Siquijor owned a green-legged cock who won 16 times in hacks until it died of natural cause.
In 1985, when the Siquijor patriarch left the Philippines to live permanently in the United States, he then left his fowls to his 10 year old grandson Rom, who is fond of going with his grandfather on Sunday hackfights. The boy tried to breed these fowls with his father, Mr. Romeo Siqujor´s guidance, which the family used solely for personal use.
In 1995, the family decided to operate a farm in Sulucan II, Norzagaray Bulacan and started breeding a couple of hundred birds. In 2002, the Siquijor brothers (Rom and Rob) decided to expand the farm through partnerships. One of the first partners who helped the brothers expand their breeding program in the mountainous area of Sibalom, Antique was Mr. Desire Gela. Then in 2003, they opened-up a partnership with Mr. Heras Verdote at Brgy. Escribano, San Juan Batangas. In 2004, Phoenixfirebird started commercializing it´s gamefowls since the industry in Luzon has shown some lucrative business light.
More than the bussiness sense of putting-up the gamefarm and the passion for the sport, the family continues to expand not only their breeding expanse but moreso their network of friends both domestically and internationally.
